On November 4, Zhang Xiaoxin, Vice President of Jinan University, visited the venue of the 15th National Games opening ceremony to meet with and extend appreciation to the volunteers serving on the front lines. He was accompanied by representatives from relevant municipal executive committees, the municipal youth leadership academy, as well as the University’s Office of Student Affairs, Graduate Student Affairs, and Youth League Committee.

Vice President Zhang toured the “Volunteer Home” and engaged in conversations with volunteers, inquiring in detail about their service duties, academic schedules, and daily needs. He spoke highly of the volunteers’ professionalism and enthusiastic dedication, which reflect the sense of responsibility of Jinan University’s youth in the new era. On behalf of the university, he expressed gratitude for their hard work in supporting the National Games. Zhang reaffirmed that the university stands firmly behind the volunteers and will provide comprehensive logistical support. He encouraged students to uphold the Jinan spirit of “Loyalty, Integrity, Sincerity, and Respect,” serve as ambassadors of cultural exchange and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao development, and showcase China’s sports and traditional culture to the world, contributing Jinan’s strength to this first-ever Games jointly hosted by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao region.

During the visit, a specially designed activity “Jinan University: Volunteer Stories & Insights” was held, structured around three themes: theoretical learning, story sharing, and reflecting on initial aspirations. Volunteer representatives, including Luo Xiaofeng, Han Xilin, and Lan Xinying (from Hong Kong, China), shared their experiences serving at the Games.
Jinan University has implemented a comprehensive support system to safeguard volunteer well-being, addressing needs from academic accommodations to daily comforts. Initiatives include coordinating course leave, providing living necessities, and organizing special morale-boosting events. Leveraging their specialties, various departments have contributed unique support, such as distributing traditional Chinese medicine mosquito repellent sachets and decorative calligraphy. The university also introduced the “Jinan University Volunteer Guidelines” to clarify service standards and codes of conduct. Customized badges, birthday cards, energy packs, and tote bags were provided for the volunteers.
