GUANGZHOU, November 27, 2025 – Jinan University has officially renewed its partnership with the Australia-China Centre for Air Quality Science and Management (ACC‑AQSM), extending the collaboration until December 31, 2029. This second renewal underscores the sustained commitment of both sides to advancing joint research and governance in air quality science.
Established in 2014, the Australia-China Centre serves as a leading international platform dedicated to technological innovation and cooperative governance in air pollution control. Initially formed by 12 research institutions from China and Australia, the Centre has since grown to 17 members. These include four Australian institutions – Queensland University of Technology, Monash University, Deakin University, and the Menzies Institute for Medical Research at the University of Tasmania – along with 13 leading Chinese universities and research institutes, such as the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences, Jinan University, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Fudan University.
Jinan University joined the Centre in 2019 during its first renewal phase. Leveraging its research strengths in air pollution studies in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the University has played a key role in the Centre’s development. Over the next five years, Jinan University will continue to work through the ACC‑AQSM to deepen cooperation with Australian partners in scientific innovation, talent development, and technology transfer – all aligned with China’s “dual carbon” goals and the air quality improvement needs of the Greater Bay Area.
The renewal reinforces Jinan University’s role in international environmental research and provides a sustained platform for contributing to global air quality governance through shared knowledge and innovative solutions.
