Jinan University's Media Center reported: On the morning of November 20, Jinan University held an expert review meeting at the Shipai Campus to mark the conclusion of its "First-class, Gap-filling, and Characteristic-strengthening" Enhancement Plan (2021-2025).
The review panel comprised 11 experts renowned for their extensive experience in university governance and various academic disciplines. Professor Zhou Yu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Vice President of the Chinese Association of Higher Education, and former President of Harbin Institute of Technology, served as the panel chair.
University Party Secretary Sun Yu, CAE Academician and University President Xing Feng, along with other senior leaders including Xia Quan, Hong An, Zhang Hong, Weng Jian, Chen Ying, and Gu Naihua, attended the meeting. Vice President Weng Jian presided over the session.

On behalf of the university, Party Secretary Sun Yu extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the panel experts. He introduced the university's overall context, touching upon its historical legacy, developmental background, and the implementation of the Enhancement Plan. He expressed that the university values this review opportunity and will earnestly consider the experts' feedback to chart its future course.
President Xing Feng delivered a keynote report, providing a comprehensive review of the plan's implementation. He detailed the university's overall status, reform initiatives, achievements, current challenges, and strategic next steps, systematically outlining its approaches in areas such as discipline development, talent cultivation, faculty development, scientific research, social services, and international collaboration.
Heads of 10 key construction disciplines subsequently presented summaries of their respective units' development under the plan.
Following the presentations, the expert panel conducted a thorough evaluation of the university's and the key disciplines' progress toward their construction goals and reform effectiveness. The panel unanimously acknowledged that the university's self-assessment report demonstrates clear strategic positioning and development pathways. They recognized that the plan stays focused on the fundamental mission of fostering student development and aligns with national strategic needs. The experts noted that the university has effectively leveraged its multi-campus advantages, leading to a steady rise in its educational standards and comprehensive strength, reflecting a robust developmental momentum.
In his concluding remarks, President Xing Feng stated that the university will carefully study and incorporate the panel's valuable recommendations. He affirmed a commitment to taking determined and concrete actions in the follow-up work, aiming to present meaningful outcomes for the upcoming 120th anniversary of the university and to contribute to the advancement of education at both provincial and national levels.
Approximately 60 attendees were present, including heads of major university functional departments, leaders of the key disciplines under the Enhancement Plan, and related faculty members.
