The “Speed Tells New Stories, Technology Reveals the Future” exhibition, showcasing technology-empowered sports training, opened on September 27 at the Guangzhou Library. Jointly organized by Jinan University’s Su Bingtian Speed Research and Training Center, the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Speed Ability Research, and the Guangzhou Library, the event highlights how cutting-edge technologies are transforming athletic training and fostering public engagement in the run-up to the 15th National Games.

Structured around the theme of “data-driven training,” the exhibition features seven sections with nearly 20 exhibits, including personalized gear donated by champion athletes such as Su Bingtian and Quan Hongchan. Through interactive displays and data visualization, it illustrates the application of biomechanics, sports medicine, and artificial intelligence in both competitive sports and public fitness.
The Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Speed Ability Research has enabled real-time assessment of athletic performance using motion monitoring, computer vision, and data analysis. A highlight of the exhibition is the interactive zone, where visitors can test their leg strength coordination and running posture with equipment such as a digital smart runway and a 3D mechanical analysis system, and even experience professional-level intelligent resistance training.
Dr. Shi Jincheng, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department at Jinan University, emphasized that the exhibition draws on laboratory innovations to demonstrate the practical impact of technology in sports training. Ms. Wu Cuihong, Director of Guangzhou Library, noted that the collaboration represents a cross-sector initiative that reinforces the library’s role as a platform for knowledge dissemination. Professor Ma Jie, Party Secretary of the School of Physical Education at Jinan University, highlighted the university’s commitment to integrating sports and education, citing the cultivation of elite athletes and ongoing research outputs. She reaffirmed the university’s dedication to leading innovation in sports technology.
The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge until October 7 and is expected to draw widespread participation.
