The opening ceremony for the 2025 Guangdong International Intellectual Property Training Camp was held on July 14 at the Intellectual Property Building on the Panyu Campus of Jinan University. Organized by the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Market Regulation (Intellectual Property Office) and hosted by Jinan University, the event brought together over 30 participants from the United States, France, Armenia, Malaysia, Iran, Yemen, Egypt, as well as Mainland ChinaChinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, marking the start of an in-depth learning and exchange initiative in the field of intellectual property.
Guo Yuhua, Member of the Leading Party Members' Group and Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Market Regulation (Intellectual Property Office), and Zhang Xiaoxin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jinan University Committee and Vice President of the University, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. In his speech, Zhang Xiaoxin highlighted Jinan University's long-term commitment to cultivating intellectual property talent. He noted that the training camp is designed to further establish the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a hub for IP professionals and expressed his hope that participants would deepen cross-regional exchanges and enhance their expertise through the program. Guo Yuhua emphasized that Guangdong, as a leading province in innovation, is dedicated to building an intellectual property protection system aligned with international standards. He also voiced his expectation that participants would serve as bridges connecting China and the rest of the world in the field of IP.
Representatives of the participants—Jade Depaix (international student representative), Tang Huimei (representative of students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese students), and Zhang Tianshu (Mainland student representative)—also delivered speeches, sharing their perspectives on intellectual property and their expectations for the training camp.
Following the ceremony, Professor Tang Guanhong from the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London, delivered the first on-campus lecture. In the afternoon, participants visited the Patent Examination Cooperation (Guangdong) Center of the Patent Office, CNIPA, for their first practical training session. The training camp schedule includes eight on-campus lectures in English and seven field visits, offering participants a rich and varied learning experience along with practical opportunities to support their professional development in intellectual property.
