In a significant step towards enhancing the capabilities of its administrative management personnel, the Zhuhai Campus hosted the inaugural lecture of the Comprehensive Ability Enhancement Training Series on March 20th. Held in the Academic Lecture Hall of the Administrative Building, the lecture was organized by the Zhuhai Campus Party Committee and Management Committee.

The guest speaker, Tang Zhiri, an associate professor at the School of Intelligent Systems Science and Engineering and the JNU-Industry School of Artificial Intelligence, delivered an insightful presentation titled “The Development of the Big Model and the Application Case of University Administration.” More than 130 leaders from various colleges, as well as departmental heads and administrative staff, participated in the event, which was chaired by Lu Jianmin, Secretary of the Campus Party Committee.

In his opening remarks, Lu Jianmin emphasized the importance of cultivating a high-quality administrative team, especially as Jinan University's Science and Technology Park (Zhuhai) nears the completion of its Phase II construction. He noted that the campus is entering a new phase with fresh opportunities and challenges. Lu also referenced a recent knowledge assessment for administrative staff, highlighting areas for improvement and stressing the need for enhanced responsibility and urgency among personnel as they align their skills with the evolving campus landscape.

Professor Tang Zhiri’s lecture dissected the evolving role of artificial intelligence in daily life, supported by vivid case studies and data. He elaborated on the concept and principles of big models, illustrating how technologies like ChatGPT and ERNIE Bot have progressed from single-mode to multi-mode applications, addressing both general and specialized scenarios. Tang specifically analyzed the value of the DeepSeek big model in educational management, advocating for innovative integration of AI with administrative functions. His presentation seamlessly blended theoretical insights with practical applications, offering attendees valuable perspectives on the intersection of technology and management.

In his concluding remarks, Pei Tingrui, Deputy Director of the Campus Management Committee, praised the lecture for its relevance amid the rapid advancement of AI technologies. He underscored the necessity for university administrative staff to welcome transformation by acquiring new knowledge and skills, ultimately translating theoretical learning into practical governance improvements.

This initial lecture marks the beginning of a comprehensive training initiative aimed at professionalizing the administrative management team at Zhuhai Campus. Future training sessions will cover a range of themes, including policy and regulation comprehension, business acumen, cultural literacy, and leadership practices. Through these efforts, the campus aims to enhance its administrative operations significantly, ensuring a well-equipped management team is in place to support the institution's ambitious Double First Class development goals.
