On December 27, 2024, Jinan University celebrated the 2025 Retired Teachers' Spring Festival Gala under the theme Celebrating the Motherland with Songs Like Every Month in the auditorium of the Shipai campus. Over 1,500 retired faculty and staff gathered to reflect on the past year and welcome the new one.

 Attendance and Ceremony

The event was attended by notable figures, including:

- Chen Ying, Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee, who delivered an opening speech.

- Former Party Secretaries Zhang Dechang and Wu Guoji.

- Former Vice Presidents Lai Jiangji, Zhang Yong'an, Ji Zong'an, and Liu Jiesheng.

- Representatives from various organizations, including the Guangdong Elderly University Association and several sister universities.

The celebration was organized by the Retirement Work Office, with contributions from the Elderly Training College, the School Retired Association, and the Senior Professors Association.

 Highlights of the Celebration

In her speech, Chen Ying conveyed respect and best wishes to the retired faculty, emphasizing their invaluable contributions to the university's growth. She highlighted the school’s commitment to continuing support for retired staff, encouraging them to remain engaged and contribute their insights to the university's development.

A flag awarding ceremony recognized the Ji Xu volunteer service team, composed entirely of retired teachers. This initiative aims to encourage retired faculty to remain active in community service, with the team having already conducted 16 activities benefiting over 5,000 retired staff.

 Cultural Program

To enrich the cultural life of retired faculty and staff, the celebration featured a diverse program divided into three chapters:

1. Year after Year, Like a Song

2. Praising the Motherland

3. Promising the Future

The program showcased 24 performances, revisiting classic works from the 1950s to the present, celebrating the progress of the nation.

 Community Engagement

The event saw enthusiastic participation from students of the Elderly Continuing Education Institute, members of various elderly organizations, and retired personnel, fostering a sense of community and joy during the festive season.

This Spring Festival celebration not only honored the contributions of retired faculty and staff but also reinforced the university's commitment to maintaining strong connections with its alumni, ensuring their continued involvement in the university's future.
