In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland and to promote internship and employment opportunities for Macau youth within the Greater Bay Area, the Career Towards the Future - 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Macau Students Special Employment Recruitment Fair launched on November 30th at our Shipai campus. The event was hosted by prominent government offices, including the Guangdong Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Macau and the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangdong Province, in collaboration with the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese Student Management Research Association of the Guangdong Higher Education Association.

This job fair featured a blend of online and offline formats, drawing nearly 5,000 students in person and over 6,000 participating online. The event provided a platform for connecting students with employers and industry leaders.

Notable figures at the launch included Ren Tiejian, Deputy Minister of the Guangdong Liaison Department, Yang Quanzhou, Deputy Minister of the Economic Department, and Sun Yu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of JNU. In his welcoming remarks, Sun Yu expressed gratitude to all attendees and emphasized Jinan University's ongoing commitment to nurturing talent, noting that over 20,000 alumni have contributed to various sectors in Macau, such as politics, business, healthcare, and journalism. He highlighted the fair's role in bridging opportunities for Macau's youth with the broader Greater Bay Area.
Ren Tiejian reported that the job fair hosted 83 employers, providing more than 1,000 quality employment opportunities. The aim of the fair is to harness the strengths of Guangdong and Macau, particularly within the Hengqin Guangdong-Macau Deep Cooperation Zone, to create an efficient employment service platform for the over 8,000 Macau students currently studying in mainland universities. This initiative is designed to help Macau youths integrate into national development and achieve their career aspirations.
Zhou Jiajun, Chairman of Macau Bowei Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., spoke on behalf of participating companies, expressing eagerness to attract young talents from Macau. He stressed the importance of leveraging the unique advantages of the Greater Bay Area to combine international resources with high-tech opportunities, contributing to Macau's diverse economic development and enhancing the region's role as an international science and technology innovation center.
The fair included direct opportunities for job seekers to engage with 83 employers, offering over 1,000 high-quality internship and employment positions across cities in the Greater Bay Area, including Macau, Guangzhou, and Zhuhai.
To further facilitate job matching and highlight quality positions, a Greater Bay Area Science and Technology Innovation Special Session was organized, featuring live streams with career mentors, industry representatives, and students discussing challenges and sharing job search strategies. The event also featured sections dedicated to employment policies, career guidance, and workplace Q&A activities. Interactive job-seeking games were designed to engage students and motivate graduates to explore job opportunities actively.
Through a combination of innovative activities and focused career guidance, this job fair aimed to empower graduates to navigate the job market effectively and enhance their understanding of employment policies and available support.
