On the evening of December 7, 2024, Jinan University held the Dancing Jinan and Building Dreams Youth International Folk Dance Competition, showcasing a vibrant array of cultural expressions from around the globe. The event featured 18 representative teams participating across six thematic dance tracks: American, Asian, Chinese, European, African, and Oceanian.

Highlights of the Competition
The performances reflected the diverse cultural heritage and ethnic customs from five continents and four seas. Notable pieces included:
- Light of Peace: A dance that narrates the story of cultural integration between China and Latin America.
- Passionate Fiji: Meekmaike on the Ocean: This performance encapsulated the Fijian people's quest for freedom and hope, resonating with the dreams of Bay Area youth.
- Blooming: A Malaysian dance illustrating the gradual blossoming of flowers.
- Dancing Kangkang: An elegant and lively traditional dance from Malaysia.
- Grevor Carnival: A powerful presentation featuring the dynamic spirit of the Grevor ethnic group from Africa.
- Palace Feast: A refined European court dance that highlighted historical elegance.

Historical Significance
The International Folk Dance Competition is a hallmark event at Jinan University and plays a crucial role in celebrating the cultural identity of its overseas Chinese community. Since its inception in 1988, the event has evolved over 36 years and achieved notable success, including winning first prize in the dance category at the inaugural national college student art exhibition.
