From November 29 to November 30, 2024, the fourth session of the student affairs staff training was successfully conducted at the Zhuhai campus, focusing on enhancing the psychological skills of student affairs staff across various colleges and research institutes. Co-sponsored by the Student Work Department of the school party committee, the Graduate Work Department, and the Psychological Health Education Center, and organized by the Student Affairs Office/Youth League Committee of the Zhuhai campus, the training aimed to improve self-care awareness and psychological crisis intervention skills among helpers, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of school mental health education and fostering a harmonious campus environment.

The training commenced with a launch ceremony at the Zhuhai Campus Student Activity Center, attended by key leaders including Tian Lumei, Director of the Mental Health Education Center; Lu Jianmin, Secretary of the Zhuhai Campus Party Committee; Ma Gang, Deputy Director of the Mental Health Education Center; and Zhu Yunli, Deputy Secretary of the Zhuhai Campus Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission. Tian Lumei presided over the ceremony.
In his opening remarks, Lu Jianmin emphasized the crucial role of mental health in students’ growth and success, linking it to broader themes of social harmony and progress. He remarked that mental health education is integral to the comprehensive educational approach of five educations simultaneously, underscoring its importance for both students and the student work team members themselves. Lu encouraged the development of strong self-care practices among the student work teams to better support their peers.
The first day included a group counseling session led by Professor Chen Qiuyan from Beijing Normal University Zhuhai Campus. Through engaging activities like icebreakers and artistic expression, participants were guided to connect with one another, express their emotions, and share experiences. The session culminated in a collaborative exercise to create a vision for an ideal life.

The following day featured a training session on Psychological Crisis Intervention, presented by Professor Wu Zhizhi, Director of the Student Mental Health Education Center at Central China Normal University. Professor Wu provided insights into suicide intervention, focusing on pre-crisis prevention, identification during crises, and effective post-crisis management strategies.
The successful completion of this training has significantly enriched the theoretical and practical knowledge of mental health among the student work teams at Jinan University. Moving forward, the Psychological Health Education Center plans to continue offering workshops aimed at enhancing the professionalism and effectiveness of mental health education and crisis intervention practices, ultimately supporting the well-being and mental health of all students on campus.
