On November 29, 2024, Jinan University held the 10th Anniversary Innovation and Development Conference for its Panyu campus at the Fok Ying Tung Sports Center. This event also marked the 118th anniversary of the university's founding.

During the conference, Xing Feng, President of Jinan University, delivered a welcome speech and highlighted the institution's achievements in construction and development. He emphasized the university's commitment to its identity as an overseas Chinese school, focusing on cultivating moral character and talent. President Xing outlined plans for the coordinated development of three regions and five campuses and the goal of constructing double first-class high-level universities. He also expressed the university's intention to contribute to national reunification efforts and support Guangdong's economic and social development.

A special thank-you ceremony recognized individuals for their contributions to the Panyu campus. Yu Guochun and Huo Zhenhuan, Vice Chairmen of the Board of Directors, along with several others, received the Outstanding Contribution Award for the Construction and Development of Jinan University Panyu Campus. Additional awards were presented to members of the Jinan University Education Development Foundation and the Guangzhou Alumni Association for their support.

Huo Zhenhuan reflected on the university's rich history and his family's longstanding connection to Jinan University, noting that his father, Mr. Fok Ying Tung, was a significant benefactor who inspired the university community to strive for excellence.

Since its establishment in September 2014, the Panyu campus has grown significantly, starting with over 2,400 students in its first year. Currently, it houses 15 colleges across various disciplines, serving more than 18,000 full-time students, including 6,412 from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and international backgrounds. The second phase of the Panyu campus project has been approved and is expected to be completed by 2026, expanding the total area to 1 million square meters and accommodating over 26,000 students and faculty.

The conference underscored Jinan University's dedication to innovation, development, and its role in shaping the future of education in China.
