On November 17, 2024, the 6th Alumni Association President and Secretary General Exchange Conference of Jinan University took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with the theme Setting Sail and Embracing the World. The event attracted nearly 300 alumni representatives from over 70 organizations worldwide, all coming together to share insights and contribute to the development of their alma mater.

This year coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, providing a meaningful backdrop for the conference, which was hosted by the Malaysian Alumni Association of Jinan University. Notable attendees included Xing Feng, President of Jinan University; Hu Jun, President of the Alumni Association; and several directors and alumni association presidents from various regions.
In his opening remarks, Xing Feng highlighted the importance of alumni support and expressed gratitude for their contributions to the university’s development. He emphasized that alumni are invaluable assets and encouraged continued collaboration to enhance Jinan University's reputation.
Ye Huiquan, in his address, reflected on the alumni association's activities throughout the year, stressing the need for alumni organizations to expand their networks and deepen cooperation to support the university's growth.
Liang Yan praised the Malaysian Alumni Association's progress over the last fifty years and called for an evolution in the work styles of alumni associations, emphasizing a commitment to inclusivity and service.
During the conference, Liu Yujie reported on the upcoming celebrations for Jinan University’s 120th anniversary, which will include academic forums and cultural activities aimed at fostering alumni connections.
Wu Yisheng, President of the Malaysian Alumni Association, described the conference as a valuable opportunity for alumni to collaborate in promoting their alma mater's development and to highlight the Jinan spirit around the world.

The conference format included thematic sharing sessions and roundtable discussions. Alumni leaders presented innovative strategies for enhancing alumni networks and discussed the role of alumni associations in promoting Chinese culture globally.

A handover ceremony for the leadership of the next conference was also held, with President Zhou Zehua of the Hunan Alumni Association set to organize the 2025 event in Changsha.
Additionally, a gratitude ceremony was held to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Gurun Golden Silk Road Fund, which has significantly supported cultural exchanges and education between China and Malaysia. Gu Runjin, a board member of Jinan University, emphasized the role of overseas Chinese in promoting cultural understanding and collaboration.

The event featured multiple activities, including the unveiling of the China-Malaysia Joint Laboratory, a lecture on Malaysia's business environment, and an academic seminar celebrating diplomatic ties between the two nations. Performances by Jinan alumni and local artists highlighted the cultural integration between China and Malaysia.
Since its inception in 2015, the exchange meeting has become integral to Jinan University’s alumni relations, fostering collaboration and development among alumni worldwide. This year's conference marked another step in strengthening the ties between the university and its alumni, paving the way for future cooperation and success.
