On the afternoon of November 13, 2024, the College of Information Science and Technology at Jinan University hosted a study tour for 29 students from Jinan University Affiliated Middle School. This initiative, organized by the Party Committee and Trade Union of the school, reflects the guiding principle of respecting the elderly and loving the young, and continuing the inheritance. The students were warmly welcomed by Chu Zhijuan, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Mathematics Department, along with teachers Lin Yizun and He Guo.

The event commenced with a warm reception from Chu Zhijuan, who introduced the day's activities. She highlighted teacher Lin Yizun’s remarkable credentials, mentioning his extensive research background, including multiple publications in prestigious international journals, three national patents, and leadership roles in national and provincial projects. This introduction set the stage for an enriching educational experience.

Lin Yizun presented on the topic Mathematics and its Applications in Image Processing and Artificial Intelligence. He began by discussing how mathematics plays a crucial role in image processing, covering techniques such as image denoising, image deblurring, segmentation, restoration, and medical imaging using PET technology. Through engaging examples and experimental results, he illustrated the relevance of mathematics in everyday life and demonstrated various mathematical models and algorithms that contribute to advancements in multiple fields.

During the Q&A session, students eagerly posed questions, particularly regarding complex mathematical formulas for image denoising models. Lin Yizun responded with thorough explanations, drawing from his own learning experiences. He encouraged students to be diligent, to cultivate problem-solving skills in everyday situations, and to embrace challenges. He emphasized that through continuous experimentation and exploration, they could develop confidence and a sense of achievement, enhancing their enjoyment of learning.
