The Guangdong Smart Education Research Institute at Jinan University has been awarded the first prize in the Science and Technology Progress Award by the Guangdong Artificial Intelligence Industry Association. The recognition was announced during the 2024 Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Artificial Intelligence Industry Conference, held from October 23 to 24, 2024. This event was guided by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology and saw participation from over 800 top AI experts and leaders from more than 300 universities.

The award-winning project, titled Key Technologies and Applications for Online Classroom Teaching Quality Evaluation Based on Multimodal Machine Learning, was developed in collaboration with Beijing Century TAL Education Technology Co., Ltd. It showcases innovative approaches to enhancing the quality of online education through advanced artificial intelligence techniques.

The Science and Technology Award of the Guangdong Artificial Intelligence Industry Association is an annual recognition that honors outstanding contributions in various categories, including the Outstanding Contribution Award, Natural Science Award, Science and Technology Progress Award, and Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award. The Science and Technology Progress Award specifically acknowledges individuals or organizations that excel in the completion, application, and dissemination of novel scientific and technological achievements.
