On November 17, 2024, Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador to Malaysia, participated in the unveiling ceremony for the China-Malaysia Joint Laboratory focused on oil processing and security, a significant initiative under the Belt and Road framework. The event drew over 200 attendees, including Zheng Likang, Minister of Science and Technology and Innovation of Malaysia; Academician Xing Feng, President of Jinan University; and Academician Chen Zhenbin from Botswana University.

This joint laboratory, a collaborative effort between Jinan University and Botswana University, marks the first of its kind for the China-Malaysia Belt and Road initiative. Given Malaysia's position as a leading global producer of palm oil, which plays a crucial role in bilateral trade, this laboratory is intended to enhance cooperation in oil processing and safety, positioning itself as a premier research institution for palm oil development.
Ambassador Ouyang highlighted that the establishment of this joint laboratory exemplifies the practical application of the Belt and Road scientific and technological innovation action plan. He noted it as a significant milestone in the scientific and technological collaboration between China and Malaysia.
Minister Zheng Likang expressed the Malaysian government's strong support for the laboratory's development and emphasized the desire for increased technological cooperation between the two nations.
