On November 8th, Jinan University conducted a symposium focused on contract management in Conference Room 1111 of the Administrative Building. The meeting was attended by Sun Yu, Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee, who delivered a keynote speech, while Mai Shangwen, Director of the School Party and Government Office, chaired the session.

 Objectives of the Symposium

The symposium aimed to promote thorough rectification following special audits, enhance management practices concerning school contracts, and continuously improve governance standards within the university in compliance with legal frameworks.

 Key Highlights

- Sun Yu's Address: 

   - Emphasizing the critical role of contract management, Sun Yu highlighted its importance for fostering the rule of law within the university and advancing the modernization of governance systems. He outlined how effective contract management can regulate external partnerships, support educational development, and safeguard the institution's rights and interests.

   - He urged all leading cadres to internalize the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, improving their skills in legal reasoning to adapt to reforms, foster development, manage conflicts, maintain stability, and mitigate risks.

- Three Key Requirements:

   1. Emphasis on Contract Management: Establish a strong legal and risk awareness culture to safeguard institutional interests.

   2. Responsibility and Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to contract management systems, ensure standardized practices for contract signing and fulfillment, and actively prevent issues such as contract backdating.

   3. Refined Management Practices: Strengthen oversight, execution, and coordination in contract management to enhance efficiency and support the university’s high-quality development.

- Director Mai Shangwen's Report:

   - Mai provided an overview of the university’s contract management over the past three years and shared insights from the recent special audit, alongside suggestions for improvements moving forward.

- Discussion and Exchange:

   - Representatives from various departments and colleges engaged in discussions around the symposium's themes, focusing on enhancing the contract management system, streamlining review processes, and improving performance oversight and information systems.

 Format of the Symposium

The symposium employed a hybrid format, with responsible parties and contract management personnel from government departments, Panyu campus, and various colleges attending in person, while participants from the Zhuhai and Shenzhen campuses joined online.
