On October 24, 2024, Jinan University hosted the Zhigong Lecture Hall event alongside the second phase of the Sihai Lecture Hall. This initiative was a collaborative effort organized by several prominent bodies, including the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Zhigong Party, the Provincial Direct Work Committee, and the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Jinan University Party Committee, with the support of the Guangdong Overseas Chinese Youth Federation. The event took place in the conference hall on the fourth floor of the Jinan University Alumni Building.

 Event Focus and Objectives

The theme of the event was Historical Inheritance, Cultural Charm, and Healthy Vitality: Multidimensional Exploration of High-Quality Development. It aimed to serve as a platform for deep discussions on the inheritance and promotion of traditional Chinese culture, fostering academic exchanges and stimulating ideological discussion. The goal was to enhance cultural cooperation and develop a model for cultural exchange with the global community.

 Key Attendees

Notable figures in attendance included:

- Wu Zhongkai: Deputy to the National People's Congress and Deputy Chairman of the Zhigong Party Guangdong Provincial Committee

- Chen Nonghao: Member of the Party Leadership Group, Secretary General of the Guangdong Federation of Overseas Chinese, and Chairman of the Guangdong Youth Federation of Overseas Chinese

- Sun Guoping: Former Deputy Chairman of the Zhigong Party Guangdong Provincial Committee

- Yue Chaoyang: Deputy Chairman of the Tianhe District CPPCC

- Liang Yan: Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department of Jinan University

- Xu Junying: Deputy Secretary General of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Zhigong Party and Head of the Organization Department

 Significance of Jinan University

Liang Yan highlighted Jinan University's history as a century-old overseas Chinese school, noting its significant connections with returned overseas Chinese and their families. The university's relationship with both domestic and overseas Chinese communities enhances its influence and responsibility in fostering cultural exchange.

Chen Nonghao emphasized the alignment of missions between Jinan University, the Zhigong Party, and the Guangdong Overseas Chinese Youth Federation, focusing on unity, collaboration, and safeguarding the interests of the overseas Chinese community.

Wu Zhongkai remarked on the success of the previous Zhigong Lecture Hall sessions, praising Jinan University’s grassroots committee for effectively mobilizing resources and hosting events that enhance cultural exchanges and consolidate community strength.

 Keynote Presentations

The event featured three keynote speakers:

1. Yue Chaoyang spoke on The Spirit of the China Zhi Gong Party and the Mission of the New Era, detailing the history and key values of the Zhi Gong Party and its contemporary responsibilities.

2. Professor Chen Ping, Dean of the Institute of Cultural Heritage and Creative Industries at Jinan University, presented on Making Cultural Heritage the Best Carrier for Civilization Mutual Learning, exploring the crucial role of cultural heritage in fostering international dialogue.

3. Zhang Huantian, Deputy Director of the Department of Orthopedics and Joints at the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, discussed The Application of Traditional Chinese Health and Rehabilitation Methods in Daily Health Preservation, integrating traditional practices with modern health strategies to provide valuable advice for attendees.

The successful completion of this event underscores Jinan University’s commitment to cultural heritage and community engagement, with hopes for further development and exchange in the future.
