On November 2nd, the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Jinan University hosted a distinctive competition focused on the classics of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). This event marked an important milestone in the 25th anniversary celebrations for the establishment of the TCM department.
A Gathering of Talent
Students from five universities across China came together for this competition, including:
- Jinan University
- Xinjiang Medical University
- Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine
- Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine
- Three Gorges University
The gathering showcased not only outstanding TCM students from mainland China but also invited participants from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and various ethnic minorities, highlighting the inclusivity and diversity of Chinese medicine culture.
Competition Highlights
The theme of the competition centered around the classic TCM text, Synopsis of the Golden Chamber. Participants engaged in various formats, including:
- Knowledge Q&A
- You draw, I guess (a game format focusing on recognition)
- Braille writing
- Flying flower orders (a traditional Chinese way of writing)
These activities helped assess not only the theoretical understanding of the classics but also the practical skills of the contestants. Participants demonstrated impressive knowledge of TCM literature and showcased their clinical reasoning abilities.
Strengthening Collaboration
In addition to the competition, Jinan University’s School of Traditional Chinese Medicine organized teacher and student exchange meetings, aimed at fostering academic collaboration between institutions in eastern and western China. This initiative underscores the commitment of the participating universities to enhance educational ties and promote deeper understanding of TCM practices.
This competition was a significant step in promoting the inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine and strengthening connections among future practitioners through collaborative learning and engagement.
