Jinan University has recently inaugurated five Top-notch Talent Innovation Classes and one Law and Foreign-related Legal Talent Characteristic Class, welcoming 119 students into this exciting new educational initiative. This move is part of the university’s broader strategy to reform its talent training system and enhance its educational offerings.

Innovative Class Structure

President Xing Feng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, emphasized that the establishment of these classes aligns with the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the National Education Conference. He stated that this initiative is crucial for advancing the construction of a powerful education system and for cultivating innovative talents. The university aims to create a special zone focused on high-quality talent development by integrating and leading various disciplines, utilizing artificial intelligence, and developing a robust interdisciplinary curriculum.

The newly established classes include:

- Biological Science+ Top Talent Innovation Class

- Pharmacy+ Top Talent Innovation Class

- Chemistry+ Top Talent Innovation Class

- Chinese Language and Literature+ Top Talent Innovation Class (Zhenduo Class)

- Economics+ Top Talent Innovation Class

- Law and Foreign-related Legal Talent Characteristic Class

These classes will be supervised by high-level faculty members who will engage directly in the educational process, employing a small class format and seminar-style teaching. This approach concentrates resources and fosters a dynamic training environment that promotes both entry and exit for top talents.

Focus on Practical Skills and Comprehensive Development

The characteristic class for foreign-related legal talents will feature instructors with international experience, including experts from practical legal fields and renowned professionals from Hong Kong, Macau, and abroad. This class aims to cultivate skilled legal professionals who can contribute to national strategies, particularly in the context of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

During the opening ceremonies, students expressed their enthusiasm for their new educational paths. Vice President Hong An encouraged students to not only master their professional knowledge but also develop problem-solving skills and adaptability. Vice President Zhang Xiaoxin urged students in the Chinese Language and Literature class to make the most of this opportunity and contribute to the university’s legacy.

Huang Peiyi, a student in the Chemistry+ Talent Innovation Class, highlighted the quality of faculty and the personalized training programs available, expressing her eagerness to collaborate with peers to become an innovative leader in the field.

Commitment to Educational Excellence

In recent years, Jinan University has prioritized enhancing the quality of its talent cultivation through institutional innovation and educational reform. This year, the university was approved to establish three innovative experimental zones for cultivating top-notch talents in basic disciplines, with nine undergraduate majors selected for the inaugural batch of Guangdong Province’s Long Foundation Plan.

Through these initiatives, Jinan University is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders in various fields, contributing to the development of an educational powerhouse, and aligning with the evolving demands of society.
