The Zhuhai Campus Teacher Guidance Project achieved remarkable recognition by winning the National Silver Award at the prestigious China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2024). The finals took place at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from October 12 to 15.

Led by Professor Xu Zichen, a prominent figure at the Institute of Advanced and Applied Chemical Synthesis and assistant dean of the Zhuhai Research Institute of Jinan University, the project titled Research and Development of Innovative Small Molecule Drugs for Antitumor Immunotherapy triumphed in the Industry Proposition Competition. The team successfully navigated the rigorous rounds of the competition, culminating in this historic achievement for projects guided by campus teachers.

The project team comprises talented students Wang Shuqin, Liu Jiaxin, Chen Xiaoxia, Qi Ming, Zhang Lei, Zhang Junqiu, Liu Peng, Yin Wenqian, and Wang Xinyu, who worked diligently under Professor Xu's mentorship.
The university has placed significant emphasis on the organization and management of the competition, with campus leaders actively participating in site visits to offer support and guidance. The dedicated faculty utilized their expertise to prepare students thoroughly, fostering an environment that encourages exploration and innovation. With strong backing from the university, the project team collaborated effectively, culminating in their impressive outcome.

This achievement is expected to inspire other Jinan University students to push their boundaries, engage in innovative pursuits, and aspire to be pioneers in technology. Such efforts contribute to the broader goal of enhancing technological prowess and achieving self-reliance in high-level innovation.
The competition, orchestrated by 12 departments, including the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal Government, has witnessed an overwhelming response since its launch in May, with over 5.14 million projects submitted and participation from 20.836 million individuals across 5,406 institutions in 153 countries and regions.
