On the afternoon of October 23, Xing Feng, President of Jinan University and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, met with Gong Guoping, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The visit aimed to enhance collaboration between Jinan University and the provincial government regarding scientific and technological initiatives aligned with Guangdong's development strategy. The meeting also included Wu Shiwen, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Hong An, Vice President of Jinan University.

Gong Guoping warmly welcomed Xing Feng and his delegation, highlighting recent advancements and achievements in the province's scientific and technological innovation efforts. He emphasized the commitment of the Provincial Science and Technology Department to implement the directives from the National Science and Technology Conference along with the Provincial Science and Technology Conference. Gong expressed a strong desire to collaborate with Jinan University to contribute to the realization of Guangdong's modernization goals through science and technology.

In response, Xing Feng provided an overview of Jinan University's research landscape and its key areas of focus. He expressed interest in deepening cooperation with the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, particularly in original research and interdisciplinary innovation in fundamental disciplines. The objective is to drive significant advancements in Jinan University's scientific and technological initiatives.

The symposium included contributions from leaders of the Basic Research Department, Frontier and High-tech Department, and Social Development Science and Technology Department of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, as well as the heads of relevant disciplines from Jinan University. Together, they explored avenues for collaboration to further enhance the province's scientific capabilities and innovation potential.
