On October 17, 2024, the Evaluation Report on the Influence of Chinese Libraries in the Digital Age (2024) was published by the China Center for Science Evaluation and Research at Wuhan University, alongside the Scientific Metrology and Information Metrology Professional Committee of the China Association for Science and Technology Policy Research. This comprehensive report evaluated a total of 2,820 university, public, and professional libraries across China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) based on five key dimensions: basic strength, website influence, new media influence, social influence, and academic influence.

Jinan University Library excelled in this evaluation, earning a five-star rating (5★ indicates outstanding influence and a ranking in the top 10%). The library achieved an impressive 26th place nationally and ranked second in Guangdong Province.
The report assigned a score out of 100, and Jinan University Library received a comprehensive score of 92.20 points, broken down as follows: 94.04 for basic strength, 93.24 for online influence, 98.50 for new media influence, 90.52 for social influence, and 86.93 for academic influence. Notably, the library's performance in new media influence was particularly high.
Founded in 1918, Jinan University Library spans over 80,000 square meters and provides nearly 10,000 reading seats. Its collection is diverse and robust, boasting approximately 5.03 million printed documents as of the end of 2023. The library has garnered recognition for its notable work in the protection of ancient books, intellectual property services, and the construction of collections reflective of overseas Chinese characteristics. It was designated as a national key ancient book protection unit by the State Council in 2009, and in 2021, it was identified as a National Intellectual Property Information Service Center for Universities by both the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the Ministry of Education. Additionally, the World Overseas Chinese Literature Museum, part of Jinan University Library, was recognized as a Guangdong Patriotic Education Base by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee in the same year.
In recent years, the library has received numerous honors from the Reading Promotion Committee of the Chinese Library Association, including accolades such as Chinese Traditional Culture Classics Promotion Library and Creative Design Demonstration Base.
Looking forward, Jinan University Library plans to further enhance its service quality and depth, investing in infrastructure, literature resource development, new media operations, information consulting, and specialized services. The library is committed to developing smart portals and big data platforms, promoting reading, and contributing to scientific research, thereby reinforcing its social service capabilities and influence in the digital age.
