The Microstructure Fiber Research Group from the Photon Technology Research Institute at the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering at Jinan University has been recognized as an outstanding achievement in the Three Year Excellent Innovation Achievements Exhibition in the Optoelectronic Field, organized by the Chinese Society of Optical Engineering. This announcement was made during the exhibition held from September 7-9, 2024.
The team, comprising researchers Wang Yingying, Ding Wei, Gao Shoufei, Sun Yizhi, and Xiong Yifan, was honored for their groundbreaking work titled Anti Resonant Hollow Fiber Technology for Communication. This innovative technology represents a significant advancement in the field of optoelectronics, which integrates photonics and electronics, particularly in the context of emerging artificial intelligence technologies.
The exhibition aims to showcase new theories, technologies, processes, products, and applications within the optoelectronics sector, facilitating a comprehensive review of academic and industrial advancements. It encourages collaborative innovation across the optoelectronics industry chain, promotes the transformation of scientific research into practical applications, and fosters deeper integration between industry, academia, and research institutions.
Achievements were categorized into four types: basic research, technological breakthroughs, engineering applications and industrialization, and others. The Chinese Society of Optical Engineering opened two application channels—academic and industrial—evaluating submissions through expert assessments. Ultimately, 15 achievements were awarded excellence, and 10 were nominated. The selected works were prominently displayed at the conference.
This recognition underscores the significant contributions of Jinan University’s research team to the advancement of optoelectronic technologies and their potential impact on the industry.
