On the afternoon of September 8, the International Business School (IBS) hosted a vibrant Welcome Conference for its 2024 freshmen at the International Academic Exchange Center of Jinan University in Zhuhai. The event brought together college leaders, faculty members, alumni, and student representatives, all united to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of the incoming students.
The ceremony commenced with the playing of the national anthem, setting a solemn tone for the occasion. Dean Wu Jing extended a heartfelt welcome to the new students, reflecting on the school’s rich history and notable achievements. In her address, she outlined the college's vision of becoming an innovative business school that embraces a forward-thinking, international approach. Dean Wu encouraged freshmen to engage in social practice, volunteerism, and academic competitions, emphasizing the importance of contributing their knowledge back to society.

Xu Gang, Secretary of the Party Committee of IBS, shared four key pieces of advice for the freshmen: to cherish their university years, set personal goals, cultivate strong character, and enhance their competitiveness. His message resonated with the audience, highlighting the importance of both academic and personal development during their time at university.

Su Xiaoyan, Director of the Business Administration Teaching and Research Office, and Zheng Canzhen, President of the IBS Alumni Association, also addressed the students, urging them to make the most of their university experience through diligent study and exploration. Current student representative Zhou Yangyang and freshman representative Li Xinxian expressed their commitment to broadening their horizons and becoming responsible leaders of the future.
In line with its educational philosophy of three-pronged education, the college emphasized the collaborative development of new student classes. A ceremony was held to connect class leaders with faculty, appoint homeroom teachers, and introduce teaching assistants. Each class proudly displayed their class flags and chanted slogans, showcasing their determination and unity.
As part of the upcoming 40th Teachers' Day celebrations, new student representatives presented flowers to the faculty, symbolizing the school’s cultural heritage of respecting educators and valuing learning.

Dean Wu also conducted the first lesson of ideological and political education for the freshmen, discussing the characteristics of the school and the demand for business talents in future societal development. She encouraged students to dream big, explore new territories, and focus on developing their comprehensive skills and innovative capabilities to lay a solid foundation for their careers.

The event concluded with a spirited New Student Happy Run, themed Youth Sailing, Pursuing Dreams of National Business, held on the Zhuhai campus track and field. Xu Gang reiterated the college's commitment to fostering students' physical and mental well-being, noting that since the launch of the Happy Run initiative in March, over a thousand participants have embraced the fitness philosophy of “I exercise, I am healthy, and I am happy.”

With warm-up exercises led by Teacher Li Yanan from the Sports Department, Dean Wu and Xu Gang signaled the start of the run, officially kicking off a new school year filled with youthful energy and enthusiasm.
