On August 16, 2024, the Biomedical Translational Research Institute and the School of Pharmacy at our university announced the publication of their collaborative research titled Inherent Preference for Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids Inhibits Ferroptosis of Treg Cells, Aggravating High-Fat Diet-Related Colitis in the journal Cell Reports.

The paper features multiple co-corresponding authors, including Associate Researcher Cao Guangchao from the School of Medicine's Biomedical Translational Research Institute, along with Professor He Rongrong, Professor Li Yifang, and Associate Professor Sun Wanyang from the School of Pharmacy. Additional contributions come from Professor Yin Zhinan of the Institute of Biomedical Translational Research and Professor Zhi Min from the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. The co-first authors include Dr. Yan Junjie, Master’s candidate Zeng Yingying, and Dr. Guan Zerong from the Biomedical Translational Research Institute of Jinan University, as well as Associate Researcher Li Zhenhua from the School of Basic Medicine and Public Health, Dr. Niu Jie from the School of Pharmacy, and Dr. Luo Shunchang and Dr. Zhao Junzhang from the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.

In addition, Associate Researcher Cao Guangchao has contributed as a co-corresponding author on recent publications. On July 9 and August 8 of this year, he unveiled new pathological mechanisms of psoriasis and neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis in articles published in Cell Death & Disease and Redox Biology, respectively.
