On June 20, 2024, Jinan University Affiliated Primary School celebrated a significant milestone by signing a sister school agreement with Lee Shau Kee Primary School of the Hong Kong Youth Association. The ceremony took place in the staircase conference room on the second floor of Jinan University Affiliated Middle School, drawing an audience of over 200 attendees. This included leaders from various departments and faculties of Jinan University, representatives from Lee Shau Kee Primary School, teachers and students from the affiliated primary school, parents, and delegates from sister schools in Guangzhou.

In her keynote address, Liang Yan, a member of the Standing Committee of the School Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, emphasized the importance of collaboration between educational institutions in Guangdong and Hong Kong. She highlighted the strategic initiative to enhance the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, urging schools to foster close cooperation that promotes mutual communication, integration, and shared progress. Liang expressed her hope that the partnership would facilitate experience sharing, innovative educational pathways, and the cultivation of modern citizens equipped with both patriotism and a global perspective. This collaboration aims to serve as a model for advancing the integrated development of basic education across the two regions.

The event also featured performances by student representatives from both schools, showcasing their talents through choral singing, piano performances, and poetry recitations. A highlight of the ceremony was a joint performance of the song Country by twelve students from Lee Shau Kee Primary School, accompanied by their paired family members.

As a pilot school for international understanding education in Guangzhou, Jinan University Affiliated Primary School is poised to leverage this partnership as the first sister school relationship between Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Committed to the principles of openness, cooperation, and mutual benefit, the school aims to engage in cultural exchanges, collaborative teaching and research, and other initiatives that will drive innovative educational development. Together, the two institutions aspire to write a new chapter in education, fostering growth and progress for their students and communities.
