On July 8, 2024, the School of Nursing at Jinan University and the School of Nursing and Health at Hong Kong Metropolitan University officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement, marking the beginning of a collaborative journey in the nursing and health sectors. The signing ceremony was attended by Hong An, Vice President and Director of the Medical Department at Jinan University, and Guan Qingping, Vice President of Hong Kong Metropolitan University, both of whom delivered speeches highlighting the significance of this partnership.
During the ceremony, Hong An emphasized that the memorandum of cooperation reflects the shared vision of both institutions for innovative development in healthcare. He expressed optimism that this collaboration would contribute to the cultivation of high-quality nursing professionals and advance the healthcare industry within the national framework and the Greater Bay Area.
Guan Qingping provided an overview of Hong Kong Metropolitan University, noting its status as the first applied science university in Hong Kong, with distinct advantages in nursing education. He expressed hope for strengthened scientific research collaboration and deeper cooperation across various fields.
In the presence of representatives from both institutions, Dean Zhang Xiaoshen of Jinan University and Dean Huang Wanxia of Hong Kong Metropolitan University jointly signed the Memorandum of Cooperation. This agreement sets the foundation for regular communication based on principles of resource sharing, mutual benefit, complementary strengths, and collective growth. The two schools aim to enhance academic exchanges and medical research, focusing on cutting-edge nursing research and talent development to promote high-quality health advancements in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Following the signing ceremony, Guan Qingping and his delegation visited the History Museum of Jinan University, where they gained insights into the university's development history and experienced the rich cultural heritage of Jinan.
This strategic cooperation agreement signifies a promising step towards fostering collaboration in nursing education and health services, ultimately benefiting both institutions and the communities they serve.
