On July 16, 2024, the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University officially unveiled the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Overseas Chinese Biomedical Concept Verification Center, marking a significant advancement in the region's biomedical innovation landscape. This center aims to enhance the integration of the innovation chain, capital chain, and industry chain, fostering the achievement of innovative scientific research in Guangdong.

In conjunction with the center's launch, the hospital also inaugurated an innovative transformation clinic and introduced the first South China Medical Technology Manager Capability Level (Intermediate) Training Course. These initiatives are designed to assist clinical doctors and researchers in navigating the initial stages of transforming scientific research achievements into practical applications, thereby boosting the efficiency of technological advancements.

The unveiling ceremony saw participation from over 300 professionals within the achievement transformation chain, including experts, representatives from investment institutions, and innovation service agencies. Academician Su Guohui extended his congratulations through a recorded message, highlighting the importance of the center.

Hong An, Vice President of Jinan University, emphasized that the Concept Validation Center will act as a crucial link facilitating the transition of new technologies, methodologies, and pharmaceuticals from laboratory settings into clinical practice. Zheng Xiaofei noted the center's strategic advantage, leveraging the resources of Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao to effectively address critical issues in project transformation and enhance overall achievement efficiency.

Guo Jun, Secretary of the Party Committee at the First Affiliated Hospital, remarked that the establishment of the center aligns with the Healthy China strategy and the hospital's strategic development plan, specifically the Famous Hospital + Overseas Chinese Hospital initiative. This endeavor is expected to lead to improved medical services for the public.

The Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Concept Verification Center is a collaborative effort initiated by the First Affiliated Hospital and the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao High-level Talent Achievement Transformation Promotion Association. It provides comprehensive support services for biomedical projects, including policy consultation, project evaluation, technical validation, and industry resource connections. The introduction of the transformation clinic aims to streamline the resolution of project-specific issues, significantly improving the efficiency of biomedical achievement transformations.

The center also unveiled the Science and Technology Innovation and Transformation Outpatient Department, which will offer a one-stop service to researchers, facilitating guidance through a structured three-stage process: pre-consultation appointments, consultations during project development, and post-consultation follow-ups.

At the event, expert appointment letters were awarded to 20 distinguished professionals with robust backgrounds in biomedicine and achievement transformation, some of whom are chief scientists at notable enterprises.

Additionally, 10 promising biomedical projects have entered into paired cooperation contracts under the support of the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Concept Validation Center, encompassing a wide range of areas including new drug development, diagnostic technologies, treatment methodologies, and medical devices. This signing ceremony signifies a pivotal step for the center in fostering collaborative and innovative biomedical advancements.
