The 34th Chinese Chemical Society (CCS) Congress of the was a significant event that took place at the Baiyun International Conference Center in Guangzhou from June 15th to 18th. The Environmental Chemistry Branch, organized by the Environmental Chemistry Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society and hosted by the School of Environment and Climate at Jinan University and the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology of the Ecological Environment Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, focused on the theme of environmental risk and control of new pollutants.

During the opening ceremony, key figures such as Zheng Minghui and Chen Da chaired the event. Special guests including Jiang Guibin and Zhuang Qiankun delivered theme reports, discussing the importance of addressing new pollutants and the latest advancements in environmental chemistry research.

Throughout the conference, over 50 experts and scholars shared insights on various topics related to new pollutant screening technology, environmental behaviors, toxic effects, population exposure characteristics, health risks, and advancements in pollution control technologies. The exchange of research findings and ideas contributed to the overall progress in the field of environmental chemistry.

The conference concluded with the announcement of awards for outstanding presentations and research contributions. The event witnessed a significant turnout, with 312 registered attendees and a variety of engaging presentations, themed reports, and poster presentations, showcasing the breadth and depth of research in environmental chemistry.

The 34th CCS Congress, with its diverse array of topics and contributions, served as a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and advancement in the field of environmental chemistry, reflecting the dedication and commitment of researchers and scholars towards addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices in the chemical industry.
