Date: June 12, 2024

On the afternoon of May 30th, the third phase of the 19th season of the Winning in Innovation Jinan University Innovation Competition, sponsored by the Academic Affairs Office of the Undergraduate College and organized by the Undergraduate Teaching Management Office of the Zhuhai Campus, was convened at the Zhuhai Campus. The competition showcased entries focusing on a diverse array of themes such as traditional humanities, artificial intelligence, rural revitalization, and more. Participants delved into pressing societal issues, unveiling valuable insights and empowering the youth for innovation and entrepreneurship. With a total of 7 competitive teams, the event culminated in the selection of one Best Project Award, one Most Popular Award, and three Excellent Project Awards.

Revitalizing the Huazhou Orange Industry with an Internet-Based Model

The Juyue Jiapin team, deeply entrenched in Huazhou County, Maoming City, identified and tackled three major challenges plaguing the local orange industry: insufficient cultivation practices, obsolete processing techniques, and lackluster sales strategies. Through collaborative research and development with the Huazhou Agricultural Science Institute, the team spearheaded innovations in seedlings and processing equipment, collaborated with Jinan University's Food Laboratory to craft novel orange derivatives, fostered ties with enterprise cooperatives for sales expansion, propelling a renaissance in Huazhou's orange sector, and augmenting farmers' incomes. During expert evaluations, judges advised on sustaining the project post-graduation and leveraging governmental policies for future promotion. The endeavor clinched both the Best Project Award and the Most Popular Award.
