The Graduate Work Department of the Party Committee recently initiated the Jinan University Postgraduate Pilotage Plan (Phase 6), marking the commencement of the program with an opening ceremony held at the fourth-floor lecture hall of the alumni building on June 6th. Sun Yu, Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee, graced the event and delivered an inspirational speech. Over a hundred students participating in the Pilotage Plan, along with leaders from relevant school units, were in attendance. The ceremony was led by Hui Qingming, Deputy Minister of the Graduate Work Department of the Party Committee.

In his speech, Sun Yu highlighted the accomplishments of the Postgraduate Pilotage Plan in establishing a systematic training system for graduate backbones, exploring innovative talent development approaches for students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and enhancing overall training quality. He emphasized the plan's role in advancing the school's Double First-Class construction and elevating the university to a high-level institution, emphasizing a development model centered on service orientation, quality enhancement, and pursuit of excellence. Students were urged to develop strong skills, shoulder responsibilities courageously, practice diligently, and strive for excellence, while fostering a sense of community and cooperation.

Sun Yu presented the flag for the sixth phase of the postgraduate pilotage plan and recognized outstanding student representatives from the 5th Pilotage Plan. Following this, all students, under the leadership of selected peers, solemnly pledged to uphold the school values of  Loyalty, Credibility, Sincerity, and Piety embody the Jinan spirit of unity, self-improvement, and diversity, and contribute their energies to the school's progress and the realization of the Chinese Dream.

The inaugural lesson, titled Patriotism, Belief, and Struggle: Youth and the Great Revival of the Chinese Nation, was delivered by Associate Professor Wu Yu from the School of Marxism. Professor Wu eloquently elaborated on themes such as patriotism as an enduring sentiment among youth, using historical narratives to illustrate the role of young generations in China's evolution. He encouraged contemporary youth to align themselves with patriotism, belief, and endeavor, urging them to actively participate in the nation's rejuvenation efforts.

The Jinan University Postgraduate pilotage plan, a flagship project for graduate ideological and political education, has been instrumental in nurturing over 540 outstanding graduate backbone students since its inception in October 2018. With an emphasis on fostering ideal beliefs, selecting exceptional talents, and leveraging a structured and professional training system, the program aims to empower graduate backbones with a multidimensional education model that integrates theory and practice, fortifying their role in shaping campus culture and advancing progressive ideologies.

The sixth installment of the postgraduate pilotage plan encompasses a diverse group of 114 students, including members of the graduate party branch, university graduate association staff, class representatives of graduate students, individuals from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and exceptional graduates from ethnic minority backgrounds.
