Jinan University recently hosted the 8th Guangdong Provincial Journalism and Communication Graduate Academic Forum, a gathering of over 30 experts, scholars, and more than 300 graduate students from across the nation. With vital themes revolving around Information Communication and Social Development in the Digital Media Era, the forum tackled pressing issues surrounding the evolving landscape of media and communication.

According to Zeng Yiguo, Vice Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Jinan University, the number of attendees at this forum has significantly increased compared to previous years. A total of 547 submissions were received from 79 domestic universities and research institutes, including Renmin University of China, Communication University of China, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, and Beijing Normal University, covering multiple fields of journalism and communication. After anonymous expert review, 124 papers were selected, and a total of 17 first prize papers, 27 second prize papers, and 42 third prize papers were ultimately selected.

The forum aims to foster academic dialogue, showcase scholarly excellence, and exchange innovative findings, collaborating to drive the high-quality advancement of the journalism and communication field, stated Ma Min, Executive Dean of Jinan University's Graduate School.
During the forum, attendees deliberated on various themes including Media Governance and Value Choices in the Digital Media Era, Technical Support and Critical Reflection in the Digital Era, Rural Communication and Social Governance in the Digital Media Era, Urban Communication and Space Production in the Digital Media Era, and Media Literacy and Social Engagement in the Digital Era, sharing their research outcomes and insights.

Since 2016, the School of Journalism and Communication at Jinan University has convened eight academic forums for graduate students in journalism and communication within Guangdong Province. The forum primarily targets graduate students in the discipline of journalism and communication from Guangdong Province, while also welcoming participation from outstanding journalism students across the nation's universities. Nearly 2500 submissions were received, from which over 270 exceptional papers were chosen. Graduate students from journalism and communication programs across the nation mutually enhance and grow through communication and interaction.
