In a prestigious event held in Hangzhou from April 20th to 22nd, the 2024 China Optics Top 10 Progress Summit and Award Ceremony showcased the pinnacle of optical advancements in the country. Among the esteemed 2023 China Optics Top 10 Progress awardees, the joint efforts of Guan Baiou's team from the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering and Huang Wei's team from the First Affiliated Hospital were recognized for their exceptional contribution to the field.
The groundbreaking development titled Fiber Optic Acoustic Gastrointestinal Endoscopy was singled out as a standout achievement in the applied research category, reinforcing its significance in advancing optical technologies within the healthcare sector.

During the award ceremony, the teams' innovative work in creating a fiber optic photoacoustic endoscope was commended for revolutionizing the visualization of internal body structures, particularly within the delicate environment of the digestive tract. This cutting-edge technology not only provides high-resolution imaging of vascular networks but also delivers real-time monitoring of blood oxygen saturation levels, offering a comprehensive diagnostic tool for gastrointestinal disorders.
In a riveting presentation at the summit forum, Guan Baiou elaborated on the intricate details of the team's research journey, focusing on the development of dual frequency interferometric fiber laser ultrasonic sensing technology. With over a decade of dedicated research, the team successfully overcame challenges in miniaturizing photoacoustic imaging probes, leading to significant advancements in endoscopic and small animal head-mounted photoacoustic microscopy imaging.
