The 6th Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Oral Medicine Cooperation Forum - Oral Medicine Student Education and Employment Roundtable Conference was successfully held at Jinan University's School of Stomatology on April 7th. The event aimed to enhance the quality of education in oral medicine and contribute to dental education within the Greater Bay Area.
Key figures such as Yan Bin, Academic Secretary of the Oral Education Professional Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association, Yan Ying, Chairman of the Oral Education Professional Committee of the Guangdong Stomatological Association, and Li Yinghua, Vice President of the Alumni Association of the School of Stomatology of Jinan University, along with around 150 teachers and students specializing in oral medicine, participated in the conference.
The School of Stomatology has achieved significant milestones in recent years, including the establishment of a provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration center and being selected as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site. The school has also been recognized for its excellence in party building and has maintained high employment rates for both internal and external admissions.
To further strengthen the faculty, the school plans to appoint Hong Kong teachers as part-time educators, aiming to enhance the educational experience for students. The conference witnessed the commitment of these Hong Kong teachers to contribute to the dental education sector at Jinan University, fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The roundtable discussions focused on various educational and employment topics, including suggestions for enhancing the characteristics of overseas Chinese schools, leveraging interdisciplinary advantages, integrating dental education with technological advancements, and comparing domestic and Hong Kong dental education. These discussions provided valuable insights for advancing dental education practices and nurturing innovative dental professionals.
The Employment Forum addressed pressing concerns of Hong Kong and Macau students, such as regulatory changes impacting the employment landscape for dentists in Hong Kong and opportunities for dental graduates in the Greater Bay Area. The forum aimed to guide students in developing a strong employment mindset, staying informed about industry trends, and honing their clinical skills to contribute effectively to oral health initiatives in the region.
The forum concluded with expressions of gratitude to the guests for their valuable contributions, emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaboration between educators, students, and industry experts. The event served as a platform for sharing best practices, fostering innovation in dental education, and advancing the high-quality development of the School of Stomatology at Jinan University.
