Jinan University Press has achieved a significant milestone with two of its projects receiving funding from the National Publishing Fund in 2024. The Office of Planning and Management of the National Publishing Fund recently announced the evaluation results, approving Jinan University Press's applications for two projects: the Series of Modern and Contemporary Studies on Qiaopi and Yinxin Correspondence and Remittance Documents from Overseas Chinese (First Batch) and the Series of Chinese Multiethnic Literature Studies from the Perspective of Diversity and Integration (Second Batch).
The first project encompasses a series focusing on modern and contemporary overseas Chinese studies, exploring topics such as overseas Chinese remittances and economic and social studies in overseas Chinese hometowns. Notably, one of the publications within this series is Cross border Finance and the Changes of Overseas Chinese Hometowns: Compilation of Historical Materials on Water Travelers in South China during the Republic of China Period, edited by Zhang Xiaoxin, Vice President of Jinan University. This project aligns with the university press's strategic emphasis on overseas Chinese university + prestigious university and its commitment to enhancing overseas Chinese publishing.
The second project, the Series of Chinese Multiethnic Literature Studies from the Perspective of Diversity and Integration, delves into the rich landscape of multi-ethnic literature in China. This comprehensive series showcases the research contributions of numerous scholars, including those from the Institute of Ethnic Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Jinan University, among other esteemed research institutions and universities. By exploring minority writer literature, minority folk literature, and other facets of multiethnic literature, this series offers a diverse and insightful perspective on the development of contemporary multi-ethnic literature in China, contributing to the cultural enrichment of the Chinese nation.
The National Publishing Fund, established in 2007 under the auspices of the State Council, plays a pivotal role in supporting scholarly endeavors and promoting cultural initiatives. Jinan University Press's successful funding history with the National Publishing Fund underscores its dedication to academic excellence and cultural preservation. With a track record of 24 funded projects, including notable series such as Overseas Chinese and the War of Resistance Against Japan and World Overseas Chinese Research Library, the press continues to advance knowledge dissemination and cultural heritage preservation.
