In a recent interview with the China News Agency, Chen Shufei, a Taiwan youth studying at Jinan University's School of Journalism and Communication, expressed his hopes for increased efforts to facilitate more Taiwan youth coming to the mainland to witness its development and transformations.
The integration of Taiwan youth studying and working in Chinese mainland into local life has been a notable trend in recent years. Qingbai Jianlun from Guangzhou Entrepreneurship Taiwan emphasized the importance of Taiwan individuals experiencing the reality of Chinese mainland's development firsthand, dispelling misconceptions often portrayed in Taiwan social media.
Bai Jialun, a nutritionist and health manager in Guangzhou for over six years, highlighted the conducive entrepreneurial environment in the Greater Bay Area, citing policy incentives, a vast market space, and supportive communities as key factors in his decision to start a business there. His entrepreneurial ventures have garnered recognition in various youth entrepreneurship competitions in Guangzhou.
Apart from his professional endeavors, Bai Jialun engages in cultural exploration by visiting local art galleries, museums, and other historical sites to delve into the rich history and traditions of the region.
Since 2014, Guangdong has been organizing the Taiwan Youth Lingnan Tour annually for Taiwan youth to immerse themselves in Lingnan technology, culture, and history. Participants like Chen Shufei have found the experience enriching, with visits to significant sites like the Macau Return Memorial Hall fostering mutual understanding and appreciation between the two regions.
Liu Wanyu, President of the Guangdong Taiwan Student Association, has actively participated in cross-strait youth activities, fostering friendships with mainland Chinese students and deepening cultural exchanges. The establishment of exchange programs and bases in Guangzhou has further enhanced youth interactions and cultural appreciation between Guangzhou and Taiwan.
Taiwan youth Huang Jingtang's recognition as a Gold Medal Interpreter for his insightful explanation of historical texts reflects the deep connection he feels to the mainland's history and heritage. Engaged in rural revitalization industries in Guangzhou, Huang Jingtang acknowledges the government's support in providing resources and assistance for enterprise development.
Hong Zichao, a Taiwan youth at Jinan University School of Medicine, aspires to contribute to the Greater Bay Area as an ophthalmologist after completing his standardized training. Alongside his studies, Hong serves as a tour guide for Taiwan students, actively participating in cultural heritage tours and festivals to broaden his understanding of traditional Chinese culture.
The collaborative efforts of JNU Taiwan students aim to foster greater cross-strait exchanges, cultural understanding, and professional development opportunities for more Taiwan youth in Chinese mainland.
