The collaborative efforts of a multidisciplinary team led by Guo Tuan, a researcher from the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering at Jinan University, Professor Shi Lei from the School of Pharmacy, and Chief Physician Bi Wei from the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, have resulted in groundbreaking research on the early detection of Alzheimer's disease. Their research findings were recently published in the prestigious journal Advanced Science under the title Ultrasensitive and Multiple Biomarker Discrimination for Alzheimer's Disease via Plasma & Microfluid Sensing Technologies.

The paper features Dr. Zu Lijiao, Wang Xicheng, Liu Peng, and master's student Xie Ji as co-first authors, with Guo Tuan, Shi Lei, and Bi Wei serving as co-corresponding authors. Additionally, researcher Francesco Chiavaioli from the Italian Academy of Sciences contributed to this collaborative effort, which involved teams from Jinan University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, the Italian Academy of Sciences, and Harvard Medical School.
Guo Tuan's research group, with a focus on mechanism innovation and technological applications of advanced fiber optic sensors in biomedical and new energy security detection, has a prolific publication record in renowned journals such as Nature Communications, Light: Science & Applications, and Advanced Optical Photonics. Their contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards, including from the IEEE Institute of Instrumentation and Measurement Science and Technology. The team has received funding from various sources, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China Key Project, the National Excellent Youth Fund Project, the Guangdong Provincial Key Project, and the Clinical Frontier New Technology Project of Jinan University Affiliated First Hospital.
