In a groundbreaking achievement, Professor Zhou Xiaoping and Li Dan's team from the Institute of Supramolecular Coordination Chemistry at Jinan University's School of Chemistry and Materials Science have unveiled a novel approach for the precise synthesis of Metal-Organic Cages (MOCs) through post-synthetic modifications. Their research, titled Precise Post Synthetic Modification of Heterometric Organic Capsules for Selectively Encapsulating Tetrahedral Anions, has been published in the prestigious journal Angelwandte Chemie International Edition.

The lead author of this significant study is doctoral student Lai Yaliang, under the guidance of Professor Zhou Xiaoping. The project received substantial backing from various esteemed institutions including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Guangdong Provincial Major Basic and Applied Basic Program, Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation, Guangzhou Science and Technology Program, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and Jinan University.
