On March 18th, 2024, Ms. Carrie Lam, former Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, led a delegation to Jinan University for an engaging exchange with faculty and students. Accompanied by Mr. Nie Dequan, former Director of the Civil Service Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the visit saw Lin Rupeng, Secretary of the School Party Committee, President Xing Feng, and Deputy Secretary Sun Yu in attendance.

During the meeting, Lin highlighted Jinan University's unique educational approach, emphasizing its commitment to fostering talent with a strong sense of patriotism and integration into national development. He expressed gratitude to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government for its support and proposed deeper collaboration in talent development, technological innovation, and social services to contribute further to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the nation.
Ms. Carrie Lam reciprocated the warm reception by commending Jinan University's efforts in various areas such as technological development, youth employment, and international cooperation. She acknowledged the university's contributions to talent cultivation for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities. Both parties expressed a mutual desire to enhance cooperation in research, talent cultivation, civil servant training, and youth entrepreneurship to facilitate greater integration of university students in Hong Kong and contribute to the region's development.
Following the meeting, Ms. Carrie Lam delivered a keynote speech titled Looking at Hong Kong's 'One Country, Two Systems' Practice from the Report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Spirit of the Two Sessions, sharing insights on Hong Kong's historical development and her experiences as Chief Executive.

Ms. Lam emphasized the importance of the One Country, Two Systems framework in ensuring Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability, aligning with the nation's interests. She underscored the significance of upholding this system for Hong Kong's development and integration into the national landscape, inviting more students to contribute to Hong Kong's growth and the Greater Bay Area initiative.
During the interactive session, Ms. Carrie Lam addressed questions on cultural exchange, talent retention, and the region's development strategy, offering valuable suggestions. The exchange concluded with student representatives presenting symbolic gifts and Ms. Lam presenting to the university Photo Stories on the Greater Bay Area.

In the afternoon, Ms. Lam explored Jinan University's cultural venues, including Sihai Art Space and Tsang Hin-tzu Science Museum, where she experienced traditional Chinese culture and interacted with students and alumni on topics of innovation and entrepreneurship.
