The Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology convened a symposium at our university on the morning of March 4th. The event was attended by esteemed leaders, including Wang Jinjin, member of the Party Leadership Group and secretary of the Secretariat of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, Zhang Qing, director of the Enterprise Innovation Service Center of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, Cheng Hongbo, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and full-time vice chairman of the Guangdong Association for Science and Technology, and Xing Feng, academician of the CAE Member and president of Jinan University, among other government and university leaders.

During the symposium, Xing Feng expressed gratitude to the China Association for Science and Technology and the Provincial Association for Science and Technology for their ongoing guidance and support to the university. He emphasized the importance of leveraging the symposium as an opportunity to enhance the university's work quality and efficiency, with the aim of advancing the cause of the Association for Science and Technology in universities.

Wang Jinjin commended the work achievements of the Guangdong University Science and Technology Association and highlighted the crucial role of university science and technology associations in implementing moral education, technological innovation, and scientific popularization. He urged the science associations of various universities to focus on serving the overall situation and promoting academic exchanges and cooperation, among other important responsibilities.

Zhang Qing introduced the Action Plan for Enhancing the Capacity of University Science and Technology Associations in the New Era (2024-2026) and outlined the China Association for Science and Technology's support for the construction and development of university science and technology associations. He emphasized the organization's commitment to supporting and promoting the development of university science and technology associations through comprehensive policies and measures.

Cheng Hongbo, on behalf of the Provincial Association for Science and Technology, reported on the overall situation of the construction of university science associations and underscored the importance of strengthening their work under the new situation. He emphasized the role of university science associations in cultivating scientific and technological talents and empowering innovation systems.

The symposium provided a platform for leaders from Jinan University, South China Agricultural University, Guangdong University of Technology, Guangzhou University, Guangzhou Medical University, and Guangzhou Nanyang University of Technology to exchange insights and collaborate on future development plans.
