At the Guangdong Province High-Quality Development Conference held in Shenzhen on February 18th, President Xing Feng of Jinan University shared insights on the institution's commitment to the development strategy of overseas Chinese schools + prestigious universities and its role as a commanding height in research in the Greater Bay Area during an interview with GD Today reporters. President Xing emphasized that Jinan University, as the largest high-quality talent training base for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan overseas Chinese in China, will continue to provide support in talent, scientific research, and think tanks for the high-quality development of Guangdong Province.

When asked about the school's efforts in focusing on high-quality development over the past year and its iconic developments, President Xing highlighted Jinan University's unique educational model, extensive influence at home and abroad, and geographical advantages adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao. Notably, the school has 47,660 full-time students, with approximately one-third comprising students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and foreign countries. President Xing also underscored the school's commitment to creating a high-quality and distinctive education system, citing achievements in teaching reform, including the approval of 52 majors and 71 courses as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites and courses, respectively.
In response to inquiries about cultivating talents to serve the high-quality development of the integration of the Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao Greater Bay Area, President Xing emphasized Jinan University's dedication to taking overseas Chinese as the foundation of its establishment and the source of its prosperity. He reiterated the institution's commitment to the development strategy of overseas Chinese schools + prestigious schools and the educational purpose of promoting education while connecting with overseas Chinese. President Xing outlined the school's plans to create a peak + plateau disciplinary development pattern, supporting the cultivation of first-class talents within a first-class disciplinary system.
