On February 5th, JNU convened the 2024 Guangdong School Directors Welcoming Spring Symposium, gathering the esteemed members of the school's board of directors, including Ye Huiquan, Cen Zhaoxiong, Liang Zhibin, Kong Jianmin, Zhong Naixiong, Zhang Yi, and Lai Ningchang. The event was also graced by the presence of the school's party secretary, Lin Rupeng, president, Xing Feng, vice president, Hong An, former president, vice chairman and secretary-general of the board, Song Xianzhong, and president of the alumni association, Hu Jun.

During the symposium, Lin Rupeng and Xing Feng, representing the school, extended warm New Year greetings and sincere wishes to the school board members, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their enduring care, support, and invaluable assistance to the school. Lin Rupeng provided a comprehensive report on the school's achievements and accolades in campus construction, teaching, scientific research, and other areas over the past year, highlighting the significant progress in the construction of the second phase of the Panyu campus. He emphasized the board of directors' instrumental role in JNU's pursuit of Double First Class status and its transformation into a high-level university, inviting continued collaboration to chart the university's future development blueprint. Xing Feng underscored the school's development direction and goals for the new year, pledging to spare no effort in meeting the school board's expectations and contributing to the university's advancement and societal progress.
The board of directors offered full affirmation of the school's work and accomplishments in the past year, expressing sincere gratitude to the diligent faculty and staff. They reiterated their commitment to actively shouldering corporate and social responsibilities, continuing to support and assist in the school's construction and development, as well as providing valuable input on implementing new development concepts, serving national major strategies, and contributing to the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The directors also emphasized the leveraging of their collective influence and alumni network to facilitate the school's high-quality development, deepen industry-academia collaboration, and promote the integration of industry, academia, and research.
The board of directors of JNU is dedicated to fostering patriotism and hometown pride among overseas Chinese, Hong Kong and Macao compatriots, and supporting the nation's modernization efforts, as well as aiding in the effective governance of JNU. Notably, the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs of the State Council and the People's Government of Guangdong Province have enlisted prominent figures from overseas Chinese, Hong Kong and Macao compatriots, and passionate domestic educators to serve as directors of the board of JNU. Their century-long dedication has been pivotal in providing valuable guidance and generous donations for the construction and development of JNU, significantly enhancing its educational standards and international standing.
