In a significant move towards bolstering collaboration and advancing sustainable development initiatives, JNU and the Lechang Municipal People's Government came together on January 3 for a momentous signing ceremony. The event marked the formalization of a strategic cooperation framework agreement aimed at fostering ecological environmental protection through science and technology support in Lechang City.
The signing ceremony, held at the Lechang City Government premises, was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Gao Hao, Director of the Science and Technology Research Department at JNU, Professor Wang Boguang from the School of Environment and Climate, Liu Huayi, Deputy Secretary of the Yichang Municipal Party Committee, Mayor Liu Huayi, and Deputy Mayor Guo Yan.
During the proceedings, Guo Yan and Gao Hao affixed their signatures to the framework agreement, outlining the shared vision of creating a hub for green development scientific innovation, enhancing environmental quality, achieving carbon neutrality, and focusing on strategic consulting, policy services, scientific and technological innovation, knowledge transfer, talent development, and public awareness initiatives. This collaboration aims to foster a stable and cooperative relationship to drive ecological construction and propel the high-quality development endeavors of both entities.
Gao Hao shed light on the academic institution's robust foundation in scientific and technological innovation within the ecological and environmental domains. He emphasized JNU's commitment to leveraging its research capabilities and talent pool in ecological environments to support Lechang through strategic scientific and technological collaborations. The university intends to expedite the establishment of the Guangdong Nanling Forest Atmosphere and Carbon Measurement Scientific Observation Research Station, offering expertise in air pollution prevention and carbon neutrality research to bolster the green and low-carbon economy in Lechang City.
Liu Huayi provided insights into Lechang's geographical, climatic, and economic landscapes, expressing optimism for accelerated progress in industry-university-research collaborations. He urged for the expansion of cooperation through the strategic framework agreement, fostering broader, deeper, and more comprehensive partnerships. Additionally, he called for proactive support from relevant departments to address challenges encountered during project implementation, emphasizing the provision of expert guidance and academic resources to facilitate the agreement's swift implementation and maximize its impact on the region's development trajectory.
