From January 11th to 13th, President Song Xianzhong and Vice President Hong An of JNU led a delegation to visit the board of directors in Hong Kong, marking a significant step in strengthening educational ties between the two regions. The visit included a series of engagements aimed at fostering collaboration and exchange with key stakeholders in the Hong Kong education community.
The delegation's itinerary comprised a range of high-level meetings and discussions, including a Hong Kong board of directors welcoming symposium and visits to the Hong Kong China Enterprise Association and the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers. Additionally, the delegation participated in the Hong Kong Alumni Association New Year Gala, further highlighting the commitment to nurturing strong relationships with alumni and the wider Hong Kong community.
(JNU 2024 Hong Kong Board of Trustees Spring Symposium)
During the 2024 Hong Kong Board Meeting of JNU on January 11th, President Song Xianzhong expressed gratitude to the school board for their enduring support and care for the school's development. He provided an update on the latest achievements of the school, including the expansion and upgrading of the Shenzhen campus and the progress of the second phase of the Panyu campus construction project. The school board, in turn, congratulated JNU on its recent accomplishments and offered valuable insights on leveraging the unique characteristics of overseas Chinese schools to better serve national strategic development and the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
(Song Xianzhong visits Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association)
On January 12th, President Song Xianzhong and his delegation engaged in discussions and exchanges with the Hong Kong China Enterprise Association, focusing on cooperation in various fields such as student employment, community public welfare activities, and exchanges with Chinese enterprises. This fruitful dialogue resulted in a consensus to collaborate on providing more employment opportunities and broader development platforms for students, fostering communication and cooperation between the two regions, and contributing to high-quality development.
The delegation also visited the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers and the Hong Kong Patriotic Education Support Center, where they met with Chairman Huang Jinliang. The discussions centered on the enrollment and talent development of JNU in Hong Kong, with Vice President Hong An expressing the desire to enhance communication and learning between primary and secondary school teachers in the two regions, promoting mutual learning of educational concepts and innovation in teaching methods. Chairman Huang Jinliang expressed gratitude for JNU's long-term support for Hong Kong education and stressed the university's unique role in cultivating outstanding talents for Hong Kong, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening educational ties.
The visit concluded with the delegation's participation in the New Year Gala organized by the Hong Kong Alumni Association, providing an opportunity to extend New Year greetings to Hong Kong alumni and engage with various representatives from the Hong Kong education community.
