In an effort to bolster technological innovation and scientific research, JNU and the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government have joined forces to establish the Zhuhai Biomedical Innovation Center and mark a significant milestone with the topping ceremony of the main building of JNU Science and Technology Park.

The signing ceremony of the framework agreement, which took place on February 5th in Zhuhai, was attended by key dignitaries including Huang Zhihao, Deputy Secretary of the Zhuhai Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, Li Weihui, Standing Committee Member of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Xiangzhou District Party Committee, Li Chong, Deputy Mayor, Lin Rituan, Deputy Secretary General of the Municipal Government, Lin Rupeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of JNU, Xing Feng, Vice Presidents Hong An and Zhang Hong, and Ye Wencai, Director of the National Key Laboratory for Biological Active Molecules and Pharmaceutical Optimization.

Huang Zhihao commended the collaboration between Zhuhai City and JNU, emphasizing the pivotal role of the Zhuhai Biomedical Innovation Center in enhancing technological self-reliance and contributing to the advancement of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the Macao Zhuhai Pole. He underscored Zhuhai's commitment to supporting the construction of the innovation center and JNU Science and Technology Park, fostering comprehensive cooperation to make substantial contributions to the region's development.

Xing Feng expressed gratitude for Zhuhai's enduring support to JNU and highlighted the increasingly close cooperation between the two entities. He emphasized the potential of the Zhuhai Biomedical Innovation Center in advancing key technology research, achieving achievement transformation, and facilitating the development of the biopharmaceutical industry in Zhuhai. Additionally, he acknowledged the significance of the Science and Technology Park in propelling JNU's high-quality development and contributing to the realization of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance in Zhuhai.

The framework agreement on the joint construction of the Zhuhai Biomedical Innovation Center was signed by Li Chong and Hong An, representing the city and the university, respectively. The agreement outlines plan for the Innovation Center to be located in the Xiangzhou Port Creation Center, a collaborative effort between the Zhuhai Municipal Government, Xiangzhou District, and the National Key Laboratory of JNU. Leveraging the resources of the laboratory, the Innovation Center aims to drive the transformation and implementation of scientific research achievements, promote the industrialization of biopharmaceutical research achievements, and contribute to the innovative development of Zhuhai.

The sealing ceremony of the main building of JNU Science and Technology Park marked a significant achievement in the strategic cooperation between the university and the local area. The park, with an investment of approximately 2 billion yuan and a total construction area of about 280,000 square meters, is poised to become a pivotal hub for technology innovation and entrepreneurship. It is set to house the Zhuhai Research Institute of JNU, focusing on fostering technology innovation and serving as an incubation carrier for research and development institutions, maker spaces, incubators, accelerators, and industrial parks. The completion of the main building signifies a significant step in establishing a strong foothold in Zhuhai and contributing to the development of the Jinan Silicon Valley.
