The Labor Economics Society's New Economy and New Employment Specialized Committee held its inaugural conference at JNU on Dec. 23 to accelerate the formation of new quality productivity and provide intellectual support for national industrial upgrading and priority employment strategy.
Du Yang, the society's executive president and director of the Institute of Population and Labor Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, emphasized that the labor market focuses on human resource allocation. The formation and development of new quality productivity not only provide new impetus for promoting China's economic growth, Du said, but also have new impacts on the labor market. The establishment of the New Economy and New Employment Specialized Committee is necessary and significant, he said.
JNU Vice President Rao Min said that as the initiator of the specialized committee and the Secretariat's supporting organization, JNU would support the committee's development and the secretariat's work.
Wang Chunchao, president of the specialized committee and dean of JNU's School of Economics, said the committee would adhere to the principles of pragmatic innovation and shared services; focus on academic research; organize and promote research on labor economic theories and practical problems; and strive to build a first-class academic community.
A roundtable forum focused on the specialized committee's operational mechanism and hot topics in research on the new economy and new employment. The Executive Council reached consensus on several matters, including organizing an annual New Economy and New Employment Forum, implementing a rotating presidency and conducting performance evaluations for the Executive Council members.
