For Shi Shengyu, entrepreneurship is an unplanned option.
Born in Taiwan in the 1980s, Shi moved to Guangzhou with his parents when he was 10 and was later admitted to Jinan University. After earning a master's degree in marketing in 2014, he began looking for a job. At his father's suggestion, he joined the beekeeping company in which his family invested. Before Shi could fully understand the company's business, its general manager fell ill and left, and the company was thus handed over to the newcomer Shi. He began to reform its system and improve its procurement, sales and other management systems.
Shi emphasized that he would rather not expand the company too quickly just to make more money. Instead, he prefers to work steadily and consistently pay employee wages, rent or payments to supplier beekeepers.
He adds the goals of scientific research and support for agriculture into the company's promotional materials. Implementing the spirit of seeking truth from facts and rational innovation, he gets close to the countryside and nature, establishing his own place in the market economy with a corporate image of science, insistence, sincerity and responsibility.
In September, Shi was awarded the Best Social Responsibility Award in the third Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs Awards. While running his own business, he is also pursuing a doctorate in international relations at JNU.
