The 29th Asian Cryptography Conference (ASIACRYPT 2023) was recently hosted by Jinan University in Guangzhou, China from December 4th to 8th. This annual conference, also known as ASCC, is a significant event in the field of cryptography and is considered one of the three most prominent academic flagship conferences in the international cryptography community, alongside the American Cryptography Conference and the European Cryptography Conference.
This year's conference marked the fourth time it was held in the Chinese Mainland and the first time in Guangzhou. Hosted by the International Cryptography Society (IACR) and co-hosted by Jinan University and Sun Yat-sen University, the event was chaired by Vice President Weng Jian of Jinan University and Professor Zhang Fangguo of Sun Yat-sen University.
The conference drew over 500 representatives from various countries and regions, including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Finland, Australia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Taipei, Hong Kong, and others. This attendance set a new record for the Asian Cryptographic Society, according to the official website of the International Cryptographic Society.

With a total of 106 papers, the conference included oral presentations of paper reports in different themed sub-venues from December 5th to 8th. These reports showcased the latest developments in the field of cryptography, fostering intellectual exchange and knowledge sharing through interactive Q&A sessions and a traditional Rump Session. The latter encouraged open discussions and sharing, providing a platform for young researchers to introduce their work to a wider audience and receive feedback from senior experts.
The successful conclusion of the conference was celebrated by representatives from the International Cryptography Society and various countries. This event not only highlighted the international conference capabilities of Guangzhou but also bolstered Jinan University's influence and reputation in the field of international cryptography.
