JNU's Thousand-Village Survey in Guangdong Project was rated an Excellent Social Practice Brand Project on Dec. 6 when the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League (CYL) recognized and praised groups, individuals and projects that excelled in college students’ social practice of bringing culture, technology and healthcare skills to the countryside in 2023.
Following grassroots application, review by the CYL's Provincial Committee, recommendations and evaluation, 352 units, 432 teams, 283 people and 71 brand projects in social practice were selected.
Using the High-Quality Development Project for Guangdong Counties, Towns and Villages as its blueprint, the JNU project organized eight teams comprising 48 interviewers to conduct face-to-face questionnaire surveys in 31 towns and 326 administrative villages across eight regions in Meijiang District, Meizhou, aiming to reflect the development footprint of Guangdong's rural revitalization with survey data.

JNU's Institute for Economic and Social Research, Institute for Rural Revitalization Research, Survey Data Center and CYL Committee cohosted the project. In six years, it has gradually formed a university + countryside education classroom and an investigation and practice education model that integrates school education guidance, independent practice inspiration and rural grassroots influence. The project has mobilized over 1,000 college students to engage in social practice across 30 districts and counties, as well as nearly 120 villages in Guangdong with its special database covering about 3,600 valid household survey samples in rural areas.
