JNU won five awards in the 16th National Conference on Undergraduate Innovation (NCUI) from Dec. 9 to 10 at Hainan University. JNU has ranked second among Chinese universities in number of awards and won the Outstanding Organization Award, marking the 11th consecutive time that JNU has been honored at the NCUI since 2013.

The Excellent Academic Paper Award went Li Zilong's team from JNU's School of Physics and Optoelectronic for Research on High-Efficiency and Highly Stable Calcitonite Solar Cells Based on Single-Component and Multi-Component Organic Cation Regulation, guided by teachers Wang Nan and Chen Ke. Liang Ruiyu's team from the College of Pharmacy won Best Creative Project and My Favorite Project for Portable Rapid Visualization and Detection of Differentiated Pesticides Based on Nanogold, guided by Sun Pinghua and Zhou Haibo, and so did Wang Zeyu's team from the School of Physics and Optoelectronic for Modification of Prussian Blue Anode Material and Its Potassium Storage Performance, guided by Li Jinliang and Sun Peng. All six instructors received Outstanding Instructor Awards.
This NCUI received a total of 833 national innovation and entrepreneurship projects recommended by ministry-affiliated institutions and local education authorities. After preliminary evaluation by experts in relevant disciplines and selection by the expert group of the National Innovation Program, 510 projects were selected for the conference. It has produced 20 Excellent Academic Paper Awards, 21 My Favorite Project Awards, 22 Best Creative Project Awards and 12 Best Entrepreneurial Project Awards this year, covering the latest achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship education at colleges and universities across the country.
